Atlassian has announced that it will discontinue its Data Center products. On 28 March 2029 support ends. After that, there will be no more security updates, bug fixes or vendor support for Jira, Confluence and the rest in Data Center.
Who should act now
All companies that currently run Atlassian in their own data centre are affected. For many, moving to the cloud is the obvious route. For banks, insurers, public authorities or public transport, however, the cloud is often not an option for compliance or data protection reasons.
Three routes after Data Center
- Atlassian Cloud: modern and low-maintenance, if data protection and compliance allow the move.
- OpenText Software Delivery Management: the on-premise alternative with full data control for requirements, development and testing.
- Hybrid: teams continue to plan in Jira, while testing and quality run in OpenText SDM. The two systems are connected.
2029 sounds like a long time away. But a clean migration with analysis, testing and training needs lead time. If you plan now, you can make the switch calmly and in stages.
As an Atlassian Silver Partner and OpenText Silver Partner, we advise you on all three routes. More on the Data Center switch
